The TRUE story of Uruguayan flight 571 from Carrasco International Airport, Uruguay that descended too early for its landing at Pudahuel Airport, Chile and crashed into the Andes mountains. 45 people were onboard when it crashed on 13/10/1972, and 33 survived. When they were rescued on 23/121972 , 72 days after the crash only 16 were alive. The survivors were forced to eat the dead bodies of their friends and relatives to stay alive. On December 12th, Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa began a 10-day journey to cross the Andes mountains on foot and make it to Chile. They suceeded in finding help, and were saved.
